This position will be a key member of the Insight Schools Executive Team, tasked with providing guidance to the development of our educational programs, and also serving as an external spokesperson to education audiences.  Responsibilities will be broad, and will include:

 

Internal Responsibilities—serve as a strategic advisor to the Insight Schools’ Executive Team, providing guidance on the following issues:

  • Development of Insight Schools school design;
  • Research on best practices in online learning and high-school education, and how Insight Schools can incorporate these best practices into our programs;
  • Creation of the schools’ academic policies and  school operating procedures;
  • Choosing the appropriate curriculum, and providing leadership to our internal efforts to develop our own curriculum as appropriate;
  • Establishing appropriate instructional methodologies;
  • Contributing to investment decisions made around the education offering;
  • Guiding experimental design efforts as it relates to implementation of best practices/policies/programs and their success.
  • Development of our program for measuring and monitoring student outcomes.

 

External Responsibilities—serving as spokesperson to education audiences:

  • Networking with national and local education leaders;
  • Representing the company at education conferences and with the education media;
  • Supporting School Development and Government relations:  Presenting as required our education program to potential school authorizers or legislators in various States where we are working to develop new schools;
  • Primary spokesperson regarding Insight Schools academic results;
  • Help to recruit and participate in a national academic advisory board for Insight Schools.

 

Requirements-- Seeking a professional with a combination of research and academic study of education, together with practical experience in running high schools or school systems:

  • A national profile within the education community;
  • A recognized background in education reform, high school reform, alternative schools, online learning, or comparable;
  • A Ph.D. in education or Ed.D. preferred
  • History of publishing papers and/or speaking at conferences
  • Membership on national education boards
  • Experience as a district superintendent is a plus
  • Experience in a for-profit environment is a plus
  • Sense of humor, creativity, hunger for innovation
